The Colloquium of Six Religious Leaders of Hong Kong
Chinese New Year Message (Year Bingwu丙午年 2026)
Bingwu comes and spring returns
The fast-running steed blessings brings
The destructive fire cleansed away the dust
The human heart retrieves its luminosity
Both the wind and the banner are silent
Sadness and wisdom mutually illuminates
We the Colloquium of Six Religious Leaders
Upholding the benevolent heart of heaven and earth
Pray that all sentient beings are united in harmony:
In days past
The disastrous fire though ferocious
Has not destroyed the will of Hong Kong
All put our will together
To rebuild our homes
Among the ashes
The new greenness sprouts
The police and the fire fighters are indomitable
All in the neighbourhood support one another
The medical sector embraces benevolence
The volunteers bring warmth
From yesterday’s destructions
Today the seedlings of hope appear
Christ’s manifesting love
The natural Dao’s law
Buddha’s mercy for all sentient beings
Islam’s respect for goodness
Confucius and Mencius’ hereditary teaching
Family love is strong as steel
The six religions though different
Treat benevolence and goodness the same way
Pray that love is used to resolve anger
Forgiveness is used to resolve regrets
Let tolerance be the heavy rain
That moisturizes the dry field of the hearts
Let us pray
Our nation’s long-lasting peace is strong as the Southern Hill
Hong Kong rises like the fast running steed
The old can get peace •
The young can get education
The working class can get work •
The injured can get cured
The marketplaces can once more be filled with joy •
All districts can be filled with chimney smoke
Innovation and technology sector can lead the way •
The traditional culture can be passed on and on
Moreover we wish
Our national destiny flourishes in the joy of peace
The four seas are clear and all wars end
All passes are open to all countries in the world
The poor and the sick are well taken care of
The green hills and green water
Are passed down the generations
Morality and writings are forever new
At this time when the fireworks blast away the old year
We the quintessence of Six Religions together wish:
Benevolence is the sail that goes through the choppy sea
Righteousness is the wide and steady path ahead
Mercy is the lamp that lights up the dimness
Neutralization is the tripod that establishes heaven and earth
The three virtues, faith, hope and love are always there
Heaven, earth and man being oneness with spring
The star of virtue illuminates the shore of Hong Kong
Thoughts of goodness are evergreen in Chinese territories
We hereby devotedly pray and wish that
Peace can be enjoyed year after year
The whole world is tranquil and peaceful
