Introduction
Our school connects Buddhist Wong Fung Ling Secondary School and Hong Kong
Buddhist Association Children & Youth Centre. It is a whole-day school sponsored
by the Hong Kong Buddhist Association (HKBA). The school advocates "No Child
Left Behind", using "Whole Person Education" as an objective to help students
possess a balanced development in the domains of ethics, intellect, physique,
social skills and aesthetics. The school combines the teaching of Buddhism
and morality training to design school-based discipline and counseling programmes,
nurturing our students to become compassionate and disciplined citizens.
Traits
- The school is aligned with Buddhist Wong Fung Ling Secondary School.
The two Buddhist schools are working closely together to make sure the curriculums
are passed on successfully.
- The introduction of Cooperative Learning has increased teaching quality
and effectiveness in learning. The flexible use of groupings in Cooperative
Learning increases students¡¦ level of participation in the classrooms. Our
school also actively takes part in sharing teaching experiences with other
schools in Learning Circles.
- There are various school-based curriculum development programmes. E.g.
P.1 students learn Chinese characters efficiently through understanding
the structure of the characters. At times, they are also taught Chinese
using Putonghau. Furthermore, students¡¦ interest and ability in English
is increased through drama activities. Generic skills such as problem-solving
and analytical abilities are primary concerns in mathematics teaching hoping
students acquire these skills through fun mathematics. The school has also
developed a library of toys and Blogs so that students can do self-learning
outside classrooms.
