Our kindergarten was established in 1982 as the fifth non-profitmaking kindergarten. The school site at G/F, Choi Wu House, Choi Yuen Estate, Sheung Shui, New Territories, was kindly allotted to us by the Education Department and the Housing Authority. The Hong Kong Buddhist Association named this kindergarten after the great philanthropist Mr. Sum Tung Fook in recognition of his benevolence to the society.

Mission
To match the mission of the Hong Kong Buddhist Association in providing charitable social services and propagating Buddhism to the public, our kindergarten aims to enlighten children to understand the teaching of Buddha through which they will develop Mercy and Wisdom in actualising a meaningful life. It is our goal to focus on the education of ethical, mental, health and artistic development.

Traits
Our curriculum was constructed to meet the needs of complete child development, promotion of interests and abilities, with contents centered on children. Teaching is done by means of whole class, group study and individual leaning. Our "Project Approach" can help children develop their own ways of thinking and understanding in depth. Real substances and technological instruments, outdoors visits and role-play are used for most teaching activities to gain better effectiveness.

Recently we endeavored to develop a "Toy library" with which children can brainstorm and develop their potentials by playing different kinds of instructive toys. With this new facility we can provide specific instructions for specific children. We have been invited to join the "on-site supporting" project introduced by The Hong Kong Education Bureau. We also get assistance from education experts who make different suggestions for enhancing teachers' coaching and professionalism.

Extra-curricular Activities
Besides the regular lesson, there are also classes in dancing, abacus, drawing, oral Putonghua and English, birthday parties and festival celebrations and games. We also conduct activities outsides the campus, such as visits, tours with parents, New Year party, public performances and open contests.

Future Prospect
We are planning to create a "healthy environment" for promoting good "mental health" and "physical health" through various activities to strengthen children's emotion and support artistic education with music or movement. At the same time, we are planning to expand the parent and community resource to enhance cooperation between parents and our school so our students can receive an all-round education.
