Introduction
Opened on 1st October 2002, Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital is one of the hospitals
in the Kowloon Central (KC) Cluster. Based on Buddhist compassion, Hong Kong
Buddhist Hospital (HKBH) was founded by the Hong Kong Buddhist Association in
1970 to serve the general public in Hong Kong. Since joining the Hospital
Authority in 1991 and thanks to continuous guidance given by the Association,
the Hospital made significant improvements to become a community hospital with
285 beds and 308 staff. The hospital mission - To provide holistic care to our
patients and the community with Buddhist compassion and philosophy - has
enlightened our colleagues to deliver quality patient care service.
On the front of in-patient service, the hospital delivers clinical services in
internal medicine, convalescence, hospice and oncology. Convalescence service is
provided to patients referred by Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The Out-patient
Department provides general and specialist clinic sessions. Specialist clinics
include Ear-nose-throat, Gynaecology, Medicine and Hospice. Ear-nose-throat and
Gynaecology clinics are hosted by private doctors.
We have committed ourselves to refurbishing 11 wards by phases since 1995. Up to
now we have completed 7 wards. Works include installation of a central
ventilation system, plumbing, electrical Campus Facilities, medical gas system,
nurse call system and etc. Refurbished wards provide a safer and more
comfortable environment for patients, visitors and staff.
