The Hong Kong Buddhist Cemetery is located in Chai Wan IL7755 number land sector, Hong Kong. It covers a site area of 2.65 hectares and the land, being granted by the government, was developed at the own expense of the Hong Kong Buddhist Association. The Hong Kong Buddhist Cemetery was established in 1963, and set up the Hong Kong Buddhist Cemetery Management Committee, is comply with the Hong Kong Buddhist Cemetery Legal regulation and duly reported to Food & Environmental Hygiene Department. The Buddhist Cemetery Management Committee comprising a Chairman, two Vice-chairmen, a Treasurer, a vice-treasurer and seven other commissioners who supervise the cemetery. The Cemetery manager, reporting to the management Committee, is responsible for gen-eral administration. The cemetery is looked after by a caretaker who has an assistant caretaker and two casual workers working under him.

The cemetery was with the objectives to provide ideal places for bury-ing deceased Buddhists or their family members, and to solve the problem of shortage in burial spaces. It provides coffin burial spaces, urn burial spaces and niches for human bones or ashes. The main building structures include: Ti-tsang temple, Two columbarium Blocks, New Columbarium, Pavilion and Office / staff Quarters. The statue of Ti-tsang Bodhisattva (guardian of earth) is placed inside the Ti-tsang Temple and contains niches for human ashes and tablets of their ancestors. Since the cemetery runs 50 years, the quantity of coffin burial spaces and niches cannot meet the future need, the cemetery committee right now applies to government for place of the grave.
